MINOT, N.D. -- Senior David Akibo scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds leading Minot State to a 61-47 victory over visiting Valley City State on Tuesday in the Minot State Dome.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Minot State limited Valley City State to just 24.0 percent shooting from the floor in the first half
• David Akibo scored 13 first-half points leading the Beavers to a 30-19 advantage at halftime
• Minot State allowed Valley City State to shoot just 37.5 percent from the floor in the second half and outscored the Vikings 31-28
• David Akibo had 12 points to lead Minot State in the second half

• David Akibo narrowly missed a double-double as he finished with 25 points and nine rebounds
• Max Cody finished with 13 points and four assists and no turnovers in 30 minutes of play
• Dorian Aluyi had another solid all-around game with 10 points, seven rebounds and two assists
• Trevor Rothstein had two points and eight rebounds
• Kody Dwyer finished with five points and five rebounds
