BISMARCK, N.D. -- Kari Clements scored 18 points to lead Minot State, but Mary closed the fourth quarter on a 16-9 run to defeat the Beavers 64-58 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opener for both schools on Saturday at the McDowell Activity Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Kari Clements scored seven points in the first quarter, but the Beavers trailed 16-11 after one
• Minot State held Mary to just 18.8 percent shooting in the second quarter and the Beavers cut the Marauders lead to 30-27 at halftime
• Kari Clements scored nine points in the third quarter and Haley Hildenbrand added six points and the Beavers rallied to tie the score at 46-46 after three
• Mary made 3-of-4 from the three-point line in the final quarter to outscore the Beavers 18-12

BEAVER TRACKS

• Kari Clements notched her fourth straight game scoring in double figures with a team-high 18 points
• Haley Hildenbrand was 6-of-9 from the floor and scored 12 points
• Madison Wald also reached double figures for the Beavers with 11 points
• Whitney Molina grabbed nine rebounds to lead the team
• Madison Wald had eight rebounds and three assists
• Mariah Payne had six points, six rebounds and four assists
• Anna Counts finished with four points, three rebounds and two blocked shots
