Beavers Rally Falls Short Against Minnesota Duluth

MINOT, N.D. -- Max Cody led four players in double figures with 20 points, but a late Minot State rally fell just short as the Beavers dropped a 70-65 decision to Minnesota Duluth in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference contest on Friday in the Minot State Dome.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • David Akibo and Max Cody each had four points as Minot State raced out to a 12-5 lead with 13:47 to play in the first half
  • Minot State held a 33-32 lead with 2:49 to play in the opening half, but the Bulldogs closed the first half on an 8-0 run to take a 40-33 lead into halftime
  • Kyle Beisch was 5-of-6 from the floor in the first half and had 15 points to lead Minot State
  • Minnesota Duluth built the lead to 57-39 on a three-pointer by Logan Rohrscheib with 14:32 to play in the game
  • The Beavers stormed back into the game and got the deficit to 62-58 with 4:17 to play on a layup by Max Cody
  • Minot State got to within 65-63 on a pair of free throws by Kyle Beisch with 2:08 left in the game
  • The Beavers trailed 68-65 with 1:29 to play, but the Bulldogs used a pair of free throws by Brandon Myer to close out the game

  • Max Cody scored 14 points in the second half and finished with a game-high 20 points
  • Max Cody was 10-of-14 from the floor and he also led the Beavers with six assists
  • Kyle Beisch finished with 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field
  • David Akibo had 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds
  • Dorian Aluyi also reached double figures for the Beavers with 10 points
  • Trevor Rothstein grabbed five rebounds for Minot State
  • Drake Jeffries finished with three points and three rebounds
