MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State softball team will open the home portion of its 2018 schedule when it hosts Mayville State and Dickinson State in the Air-Supported Dome at Herb Parker Stadium on Saturday (Feb. 10) and Sunday (Feb. 11).
The Beavers will play four games over the two-day tournament beginning with a 10 a.m. game against Mayville State on Saturday. Minot State will then square off with Dickinson State at 12 p.m. The schedule for Sunday has the Beavers meeting Dickinson State at 10 a.m. and Mayville State at 2 p.m.
Minot State enters the home tournament with a 3-2 record having opened the season at the Desert Stinger Tournament in Las Vegas, Nev. The Beavers closed the tournament with two straight wins and also posted a victory over No. 5 Humboldt State during tournament play.
Tori Zimmermann was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week after hitting .600 for the tournament. She was 12-for-20 with two homers, two doubles and seven RBIs. She also had an on-base percentage of .600 and posted a 1.000 slugging percentage.
Minot State hit .331 in the five games as
Lauren Cowden hit .450 and scored eight runs, while
Isis Cabral hit .412 and also drove in seven runs.
Ashley Hill batted .375 during the tournament and
Julia Suchan hit .333 and
Kyla Larson hit .316 and had six RBIs.
Kylie Patrick earned two wins for Minot State in the circle, while
Laura Mendez also notched a victory.
This will mark the season opener for both Mayville State and Dickinson State.
