MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State softball team will conclude a six-game homestand by hosting Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State in a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheaders in the Air-Supported Dome at Herb Parker Stadium.
The Beavers will host Minnesota Duluth on Friday (March 30) for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. and then meet St. Cloud State to wrap up the homestand on Saturday (March 31) with a doubleheader also beginning at 2 p.m.
Minot State, which enters the weekend with a 14-9 overall record, opened NSIC play on Tuesday by splitting a doubleheader against Mary. The Beavers scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning of game one to post a 6-5 victory, but Mary bounced back to win game two 7-2.
The Beavers have been limited to a .264 batting average over their last eight games, but still maintain a .337 average for the season. Minot State has reached double figures in hits in 13 games this season and have scored at least five runs 17 times on the year.
Senior
Tori Zimmermann currently leads the Beavers with a .470 batting average and she also tops the team with nine doubles and 39 hits. Sophomore
Julia Suchan ranks second on the squad with a .450 batting average and she leads the team with 24 runs scored.
Kyla Larson leads the Beavers with 23 RBIs and is hitting .389, while
Isis Cabral is batting .380 and leads the team with a .732 slugging percentage.
Kylie Patrick has a 9-3 record and a 4.89 earned run average, while
Laura Mendez is 5-6 on the year with a 6.05 ERA.
Minnesota Duluth enters the weekend with a 19-6 overall record and split with St. Cloud State in its NSIC opener on Tuesday. The Huskies won the opening game 2-0 before the Bulldogs bounced back to win game two by a 1-0 score.
Hannah Schmoll leads the Bulldogs with a .437 batting average, while Jessica Bren is batting .395 and has hit 14 home runs on the year.
St. Cloud State has a 15-8 overall record and a 1-1 record in the NSIC after splitting its NSIC opener with Minnesota Duluth on Tuesday. Kylie Thomsen leads the Huskies with a .408 batting average, while Maya Keating is batting .403 for the season.
