Beavers Wrap Up Home Schedule with Northern State

MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State softball team will conclude the home portion of its schedule on Wednesday (April 24) when it hosts Northern State in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. at the South Hill Complex.

The Beavers, who are also entering the final week of conference play, have an overall record of 23-18 and a conference record of 10-10. The Beavers are currently ninth in the NSIC standings, while the top 10 teams in the league will earn a trip to the NSIC Tournament.

"We've told the girls this is exactly where we want to be, which is controlling our destiny as far as making the conference tournament," said head coach Dave Kivett. "If we play like we are capable of playing, we will make the tournament."

Minot State will host Northern State on Wednesday and conclude the regular season at Minnesota State on Saturday (April 28) and at Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday (April 29).

After suffering a pair of losses to Winona State last Saturday, Minot State bounced back with a doubleheader sweep of Upper Iowa on Sunday. The Beavers won the opening game 6-3 and then rallied from three runs down in the seventh inning of game two to post a 6-5 win.

Junior Isis Cabral ranks second on the team with a .422 batting average and tops the team with a lofty .524 on-base percentage. She also leads the Beavers with 22 walks and is tied for the team lead with seven triples.
