MINOT, N.D. -- Quarterback Ben Bolinske threw a touchdown and also rushed for a touchdown and Minot State forced five turnovers as the Beavers retained the Battle of the Big Lake Trophy with a 41-28 win over Mary on Saturday at Herb Parker Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Minot State took a 7-0 lead when Ben Bolinske scored on a 42-yard run with 8:53 to play in the first quarter
• The Beavers increased the lead to 14-0 when Ben Bolinske connected with Lavante Bushnell for a 10-yard touchdown at the 6:40 mark of the first quarter
• Jemal Williams scored his first career rushing touchdown at the 14:54 mark of the second quarter and the Beavers increased the lead to 21-0
• Mary got on the scoreboard in the second quarter when Bryan Lumsden scored from a yard out with 1:10 to play before halftime
• JoseLuis Moreno drilled a school-record 58-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter to increase the Beaver lead to 24-7 at halftime
• Ryan DeMarois returned an interception 27 yards for a touchdown at the 14:51 mark of the third quarter increasing the Minot State lead to 31-7
• Bryan Lumsden scored his second touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run to cut the lead to 31-14 in the third quarter
• JoseLuis Moreno converted a 44-yard field goal increasing the Beavers lead to 34-14 with 9:16 to play in the third quarter
• Jemal Williams rushed in from a yard out to up the Beavers lead to 41-14 with 14 seconds remaining in the third quarter
• Mary scored a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter to bring the final score to 41-28

BEAVER TRACKS

• Ben Bolinske rushed for 97 yards and threw for 88 yards
• Chris Rivers intercepted a pass and finished with eight tackles
• Jemal Williams finished the day with 15 carries for 67 yards and two touchdowns and also intercepted a pass
• JoseLuis Moreno connected on a school-record 58-yard field goal and also hit from 44 yards out
• JoseLuis Moreno averaged 42.6 yards on seven punts including an 88-yard punt
• Ryan DeMarois intercepted a pass and returned it 27 yards for a touchdown and also had seven tackles
• Kiante Goudeau intercepted a pass and added six tackles
• Connor Huston led the Beavers with nine tackles and also had 1.5 tackles for loss
• Lavante Bushnell finished with three catches for 45 yards and a touchdown

TEAM NOTES

• Minot State defeated Mary for the fourth straight season
• The Beavers had 321 yards of total offense
• The Minot State defense forced five Mary turnovers
• The 41 points is the most the Beavers have scored against Mary since a 42-22 win in 1988
• Minot State converted all three of its opportunities in the red zone
