Minnesota Crookston Spoils Beavers Homecoming

MINOT, N.D. -- Junior Lavante Bushnell caught a pair of touchdown passes and sophomore Ben Bolinske threw for three scores, but Minnesota Crookston spoiled Minot State's Homecoming with a 29-21 victory on Saturday at Herb Parker Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Minnesota Crookston scored on its first drive of the game as Jalin Scott scored from three yards out giving the Golden Eagles a 7-0 advantage
  • The Golden Eagles upped the lead to 13-0 on their second drive when Jalin Scott connected with Mohamed Mahmoud for a 12-yard TD
  • Minot State got on the scoreboard late in the second quarter when Ben Bolinske connected with Lavante Bushnell for a 42-yard TD
  • Minnesota Crookston took a 20-7 advantage into halftime when Jalin Scott scored from 11 yards out with 27 seconds to play in the second quarter
  • Jalin Scott scored his third touchdown of the game midway through the third quarter increasing the Golden Eagles lead to 27-7
  • Lavante Bushnell hauled in his second touchdown of the game early in the fourth quarter cutting the Minnesota Crookston lead to 27-14
  • Ben Bolinske threw his third touchdown of the game, this one to Connor Beeston, to trim the lead to 27-21
  • Minnesota Crookston sealed the victory when Ali Alkhatib sacked Bolinske for a safety to up the lead to 29-21
BEAVER TRACKS TEAM NOTES
  • Minot State dropped to 1-3 overall and 1-3 in the NSIC with the loss
  • The Beavers had 245 yards of total offense
  • Minot State forced a turnover for the fourth straight game
  • The Beavers were 7-of-15 on third down conversions
  • Minot State scored on its only trip into the red zone
