Beavers Push St. Cloud State But Fall in Four Sets

MINOT, N.D. -- Katie Dufner, Hayley Swain and Shelby Spuller each recorded 10 kills, but St. Cloud State defeated Minot State 25-18, 25-11, 17-25, 25-20 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match on Saturday in the Minot State Dome.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • St. Cloud State took the first set 25-18 as the Huskies used a 6-0 run to end the set to clinch the victory
  • The Huskies took a 2-0 lead as they posted a .414 attack percentage in a 25-11 second-set win
  • The Beavers did not go away as they hit .333 in the third set and Katie Dufner had five kills as Minot State prevailed 25-17
  • The Huskies used a 9-2 run at the end of the fourth set on its way to a 25-20 win to clinch the match
BEAVER TRACKS
  • Katie Dufner came off the bench and sparked the Beavers to a third-set win and she finished the match with 10 kills and a .318 attack percentage
  • Hayley Swain and Shelby Spuller each added 10 kills for Minot State
  • Shelby Spuller finished with a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs
  • Emily Falldorf added eight kills and two blocks for the Beavers
  • Kelsey Dewulf had 40 assists, six digs and two blocks
  • Karli Koza led the Beavers with 16 digs
TEAM NOTES
  • Minot State hit .333 in the third-set victory
  • St. Cloud State held a 57-46 advantage in kills and a 61-56 advantage in digs
  • The Beavers finished with 3.0 blocks and two service aces
  • Minot State dropped to 6-7 overall and 1-4 in the NSIC, while St. Cloud State improved to 9-2 overall and 5-0 in conference play
