Hayley Swain added 14 kills and a .591 attack percentage as Minot State defeated Minnesota Crookston 25-19, 25-14, 28-30, 21-25, 15-13 on Friday in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match in Lysaker Gymnasium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Minot State took the first set 25-19 as Hayley Swain had six kills and posted a .750 attack percentage
- The Beavers increased the lead to 2-0 by capturing the second set 25-14 as Shelby Spuller had five kills and Minot State hit .346
- Despite seven kills from Shelby Spuller, Minnesota Crookston held off Minot State 30-28 in the third set to trim the lead to 2-1
- Minnesota Crookston hit .244 in the fourth set to earn a 25-21 win and even the match at 2-2
- Hayley Swain, Shelby Spuller and Emily Falldorf each had two kills as Minot State posted a 15-13 win in the fifth set to capture the match 3-2
BEAVER TRACKS
- Shelby Spuller had her eighth consecutive double-figure kill match with 23 kills
- Karli Koza finished with a season-high 29 digs, which marked her 15th consecutive double-figure dig match
- Hayley Swain finished with 14 kills and a .591 attack percentage, which were her second-highest totals this season in each category
- Emily Falldorf also reached double figures with 11 kills
- Kelsey Dewulf had a double-double with 58 assists and 14 digs
- Shae Pedersen also notched double figures in digs as she finished with 12
- Katie Dufner finished with nine kills for Minot State

- Minot State is 8-7 overall and 2-4 in conference play on the season
- Minot State topped a .340 hitting percentage in both the first and second sets
