MINOT, N.D. -- Riding a three-match winning streak, the Minot State volleyball team returns to the Minot State Dome to host a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference contests against Winona State and Upper Iowa. The Beavers will meet Winona State on Friday (Sept. 28) at 6 p.m. and then meet Upper Iowa on Saturday (Sept. 29) at 2 p.m.
The Beavers come off a week in which it defeated Dickinson State at home and then posted back-to-back victories at Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State. It marked the first time since the 2014 season that Minot State has won back-to-back road conference matches.
The Beavers, who have already surpassed last season's overall and conference win totals, are 9-7 overall and 3-4 in the NSIC. Winona State is 6-9 overall and 3-4 in league play, while Upper Iowa is 9-6 on the season and 2-5 in the NSIC.
Shelby Spuller and
Hayley Swain played pivotal roles in helping the Beavers to a 3-0 record last week. Spuller averaged 4.67 kills per match and had a .299 attack percentage, while Swain averaged 2.58 kills per set and posted a .558 attack percentage in the three matches.
Spuller leads the Beavers with a 3.85 kills per set, which currently ranks 34th in the NCAA Division II. Spuller is also ranked 22nd in the nation in total kills (231) and is 42nd in points per set (4.3).
Senior setter
Kelsey Dewulf, who leads the Beavers with four double-doubles, is ranked 65th in the nation averaging 10.07 assists per set. She also averages 1.92 digs and 0.25 blocks per set.
Swain, who is ranked 74th nationally with a .338 attack percentage, is third on the team averaging 1,97 kills per set.
Emily Falldorf ranks second on the team averaging 2.02 kills per set.
Sophomore
Karli Koza, who has reached double figures in digs in all 16 matches, leads the Beavers averaging 4.82 digs per set.
