SIOUX FALLS, S.D.  – Mariah Payne and Madison Wald scored 14 points to lead Minot State, but Sioux Falls defeated Minot State 59-54 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference game in the Stewart Center on Saturday, January 19.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Sioux Falls raced out to a 15-4 after the first quarter
• Beavers outscored the Cougars 22-16 in the second quarter
• The Cougars took a 31-26 lead into halftime
• Mariah Payne had five points in the third quarter, Kari Clements added three points, but the Beavers trailed the Cougars 43-38 at the end of the third quarter
• Beavers had a 51-49 lead with 5:07 left in the game, but the Beavers only scored three points in the final 5:07 of the game
• Minot State held Sioux Falls to a 32.3 percent shooting in the first half

• Mariah Payne had 14 points, five rebounds and three assists
• Madison Wald added 14 points
• Kari Clements reached double figures for the seventh consecutive game with 10 points
• Haley Hildenbrand had eight points and eight rebounds
• Calli Delsman had six points and 11 rebounds
• Whitney Molina grabbed four rebounds and had two assists
