Akibo, Aluyi double-doubles not enough in OT loss

MINOT, N.D.David Akibo and Dorian Aluyi both finished with double-doubles, but it wasn't enough as Minnesota State Mankato overcame an 11-point deficit to force overtime and then pulled away for an 82-76 overtime win in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's basketball Friday at the Minot State Dome.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Minot State outscored Minnesota State 36-32 in the first half, shooting a stellar 51.6 percent from the field, hitting 16 shots from the field.
  • The Mavericks erased an 11-point Minot State lead and withstood an open look at the game winner for the Beavers at the buzzer to force overtime, outscoring Minot State 35-31 in the second half.
  • Minnesota State outscored Minot State 15-9 in the extra session.
BEAVER TRACKS
  • David Akibo continued solid NSIC play with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds, while finishing with three blocked shots.
  • Max Cody netted 20 points and dished out a team-high seven assists, hitting two 3-pointers and eight field goals for Minot State.
  • Dorian Aluyi scored 16 points and added 10 rebounds – including five offensive boards – knocking down 7 of 11 from the field.
