Kyle Beisch hit the first shot he took and didn't slow down from there, scoring a game-high 23 points to lift Minot State University to an 88-75 win over Concordia-St. Paul in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's basketball Saturday at the Minot State Dome.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Minot State outscored Concordia-St. Paul 49-36 in the second half behind 60 percent shooting to pull away from the Golden Bears.
- The teams traded baskets throughout the first half to close with a 39-39 halftime tie.
BEAVER TRACKS
- Kyle Beisch hit five 3-pointers and shot a solid 9 for 15 from the field for his 23 points, adding four rebounds and a steal in 31 minutes.
- David Akibo continued at a torrid NSIC pace, scoring 20 points and added five rebounds, two assists and a steal.
- Drake Jeffries also connected on five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points, three rebounds, three assists and a steal.
- Max Cody nearly added a double-double with eight assists to go along with 13 points and a steal.
- Trevor Rothstein logged 33 rugged minutes, scoring six points with five rebounds and three assists.
TEAM NOTES
- Minot State hit 14 3-pointers in the game, going 14 for 31 from beyond the arc as the Beavers eight triples in the first half kept MSU in the game.
- Concordia-St. Paul took a 15-point first-half lead nine minutes into the game, before Minot State clawed its way back into the contest.
- MSU hit 52 percent from the field overall, going 17 for 28 from the floor in the second half and 9 for 10 from the free-throw line in the second half.
- Minot State finished with 19 assists compared to just eight turnovers in the game.
- MSU had six steals from six different players.
