MINOT, N.D. –
Mariah Payne and
Kari Clements combined for 24 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three steals, but cold shooting kept Minot State from a weekend sweep as visiting Concordia-St. Paul knocked off the Beavers 58-46 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's basketball Saturday afternoon at the Minot State Dome.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Minot State was outscored 18-8 in the fourth quarter as CSP pulled away in an otherwise close game.
- The Golden Bears erased a one-point deficit with a 15-12 advantage in the third quarter, holding Minot State to just three field goals.
- Minot State had its best quarter of the game, knocking down four 3-pointers en route to an 18-point second quarter to earn a 26-25 halftime lead.
- Both teams struggled in the first quarter, combining for just eight field goals as CSP jumped out to a 15-8 lead.
BEAVER TRACKS
- Kari Clements put together a solid weekend, following up a career night on Friday with 12 points, five rebounds, one steal and one assist on Saturday.
- Mariah Payne hit two 3-pointers for her 12 points and finished with six rebounds, four assists and two steals.
- Calli Delsman knocked down two 3-pointers as well and was 4 for 6 from the floor to finish with 10 points.
TEAM NOTES
- Minot State shot just 29.1 percent from the field, making 16 of 55 overall. The Beavers held CSP to 38.5 percent, but gave up 7 of 13 shooting in the fourth quarter.
- The Beavers finished with 11 offensive rebounds, but were out rebounded overall, 42-37.
- MSU was solid from the free-throw line, hitting 9 of 11 from the stripe.
- With the loss, Minot State falls to 6-8 overall and 1-7 in NSIC games, while CSP improves to 9-4 overall and 5-3 in league games.
