Beavers Look to End the Week with Winning Streak

(Minot, N.D.) -- The Minot State University Volleyball team won their first match of the season on Tuesday night, hoping to carry that momentum over and create a winning streak this weekend. This weekend Minot State will battle two nationally ranked teams at home. Beginning on Friday, Oct. 4, the Beavers will face #12 St. Cloud State (11-1) at 5:00 p.m. and #3 Minnesota Duluth (12-1) on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.  
 
Series History

Vs. St. Cloud State  

  • St. Cloud State leads the series 11-1.  
  • The first meeting was on 9/9/2011 at a neutral site where Minot State lost to St. Cloud State 3-2.  
  • The last meeting was on 11/2/2018, where Minot State lost to St. Cloud State on the road 3-0.  
  • Last time Minot State beat the Huskies was on 10/17/2014 on the road 3-0.
Vs. Minnesota Duluth  
  • Minnesota Duluth is undefeated vs. the Beavers 10-0.  
  • Their first meeting was on 10/6/2012 where UMD won 3-0.

    St. Cloud State  
  • The Huskies have started the season 11-1, leading to them being ranked #12 in the country.
  • The Huskies are fourth in the NSIC, averaging 14.88 kills per set and have 640 kills on the season.  
  • Sophomore Linsey Rachel has 186 kills on the season, which is third-best in the conference.  
  • Maddy Torve is third in the country at the Division II level with 530 assists.  
  • Clara Kenz leads the team with 265 digs and is number two in the conference.  
    Minnesota Duluth  
  • The University of Minnesota Duluth is currently ranked #3 in the country, thanks to an 11-1 start. 
  • The Bulldogs are second in the NSIC, averaging 15.82 kills per set and have a total of 601 kills in the season.  
  • Senior middle blocker Abby Thor has a hitting percentage of .399, which is good for fourth-best in the conference
  • Emily Balts averages 12.53 assists per set.  
  • Madison Gordon has 17 service aces on the season and is fifth-best in the conference in that column.  
  • Keena Seiffert has 184 digs in the season and is third in the NSIC with 4.84 digs per set.
