(MINOT, N.D.) – The Minot State women's hoops team garnered their first victory of the season in an 84-43 rout of Dickinson State University.
The Beavers never looked back after capturing a quick 6-4 lead and went wire-to-wire in their dominant win. The Minot State defense was phenomenal allowing fewer than ten points in the second and third quarters.
For Minot State,
Mariah Payne led the way with 26 points followed by
Anna Counts with 14,
Haley Hildenbrand with 12, and
Calli Delsman with 10. Counts was just as effective on the glass with nine total rebounds and Hildenbrand finished with seven. Starting guard
Bethany Theodore distributed a team-high eight assists and made two steals.
For the Blue Hawks, Sydney Clark led the club with eight points, five rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
The Beavers are now 1-1 overall with two games to play until the conference season begins.
The Minot State women will be back in action after a lengthy hiatus when they host Yellowstone Christian College on Saturday, Nov. 23.
