Beaver Volleyball Loses Match at Sioux Falls

(SIOUX FALLS, S.D.) – The penultimate game in the 2019 Minot State volleyball season ended in a loss earlier tonight. The Beavers were defeated at the University of Sioux Falls in four sets.

The Cougars won the first set by a slim margin of 25-21. The second frame was not so close as USF found a groove and defeated Minot State 25-15. The third set was the only one the Beavers were victorious in as they won 26-24 in a thriller. Finally, the Beavers could not find a rhythm in the fourth and the Cougars came out on top 25-14 to take the match.

For Minot State, Shelby Spuller led the way in kills with 19 followed by Hayley Swain with 10 and Emily Falldorf with six. Setter Mackenzie Froehlich recorded 39 assists on the evening while Karli Koza had 14 digs to lead the team.

For Sioux Falls, three players recorded double-digit kills including Abby Feyereisen with 18, Kasandra Springs with 18, and Hayley Fox with 14. Krista Goerger had an excellent night as a distributor with 57 assists to her credit. The Cougars' digs numbers were equally as balanced as four players reached double-figures led by Allie Maloney with 13. Feyereisen also had a team-high six blocks.

Following the loss, the Beavers now sit at 3-25 overall and 2-17 in the NSIC with one game to play. USF improved their records to 16-11 overall and 8-11 in the league.
