(MINOT, N.D.) – The Minot State men's basketball team dropped another close ballgame in the Dome this evening to the visiting Northern State Wolves.
After a back-and-forth game, the Wolves' Mason Stark laid the ball in with five seconds remaining to take the lead. A half-court heave from Kyle Besich came up just short at the buzzer and the score held, 69-67.
For the Beavers,
Max Cody led the way in the scoring column with 15 points. Beisch and
Kody Dwyer were next with 11 each and
Nibra White also cracked double-figures with 10. Beisch grabbed the most rebounds on the team with eight total boards followed by
Trevor Rothstein with seven. White and Rothstein also had three steals and two steals, respectively. Cody was just missed a double-double with nine assists.
Northern State had three players in double-digits including Mason Stark with 24, Parker Fox with 11, and Cole Dahl with 10. Stark's 24 points came off of an impressive 71% shooting rate from the field. Fox had a team-high eight rebounds followed by Gabe King with seven. Fox also led the Wolves in assists with three and blocks with five.
In a game with 10 ties and 22 lead-changes, every bucket was of premium importance. The Wolves' benefitted from outscoring the Beavers in bench points and points in the paint.
With the loss, Minot State's record moves to 6-4 overall and 0-4 in league play. The Wolves are now 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the NSIC.
The Beavers will be back on the court tomorrow (Dec. 14) evening at 5:30 p.m. when they host MSU Moorhead to cap off the weekend. Northern State will visit UMary tomorrow to finish their road trip.
