(MINOT, N.D.) -- The Minot State men's basketball team fell in a fierce overtime dogfight on Saturday night.
Â
The first half was low scoring with both offenses struggling to get much of anything going. In the first half, the Beavers hit just eight shots from the field, four three-pointers, and one free throw. UMary was slightly better hitting 12-29 from the field, but only one of twelve from behind the three-point arc. The Mauraders would go into the half holding a 28-21 lead.
Â
The Beavers would catch fire in the second half; however, shooting 51.6 (16-31) percent and 46.7 (7-15) percent from three. Thanks to the strong second half, the Beavers would outscore the Mauraders 42-35 and push the game into overtime.
Â
The overtime session would go back and forth with both teams trading leads. The lead would change three times in the overtime period, and the Beavers held the lead at 69-67. This would be the last lead that the Beavers would hold, however, as the Mauraders ended the game on an 8-3 run to seal the game 75-72.
