Akibo's Double-Double Paces Beavers to Overtime Victory

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Senior David Akibo followed his double-double performance last night at Minnesota Crookston with an even bigger one today as the senior garnered 28 points and 11 rebounds to lead Minot State in a 79-76 victory in overtime at Bemidji State on Saturday evening.
 
The win marks the fifth consecutive road victory for the Beavers as Minot State improves to 14-15 (9-11 NSIC) while Bemidji State drops to 9-15 overall and 6-14 in NSIC contests.

How It Happened
  • Beisch opened the scoring with a trey to give the Beavers a 3-0 lead in a first half that Bemidji State never had the advantage in scoring.
  • Minot State led by three to six points for most of the first half until Kody Dwyer's layup stretched the Beaver lead to 30-21 with 2:46 until halftime.
  • BSU scored the final four points in the first half to cut the Minot State lead to 30-25 at halftime.
  • Minot State led for the entire second half until Bemidji State's Cody Landwehr hit a jumper with five seconds left to tie the game at 62.
  • MSU hit their first three shots to open overtime, including a pair of treys by Akibo to give Minot State the 70-68 lead.
  • Max Cody drilled a jumper with 12 seconds left to give the Beavers a two-possession advantage.
  • MSU converted all four free throws in the final six seconds to clinch the 79-76 win.
