Dragons Hand Beavers First Loss in Five Games

MINOT, N.D. – Despite entering the weekend with the momentum of a four-game win streak, the Minot State men's basketball team suffered a 93-78 defeat to Minnesota State Moorhead on Friday night in the Minot State Dome.
 
Minot State falls to 14-16 on the season and 9-12 in the NSIC while the Dragons jump to 19-10 (13-8 NSIC).

How It Happened
  • The Dragons and Beavers exchanged points early as Kyle Beisch's layup gave the Beavers a 14-13 advantage with 13:56 left in the first half.
  • MSU Moorhead rattled off a 13-2 run in the next three minutes to take a 26-16 lead.
  • A trio of layups from Max Cody and an Akibo trey trimmed the Dragon lead to 28-25 with 8:23 remaining in the first half.
  • Drake Jeffries drained a triple with three seconds left to make it a five-point game at the break.
  • The Dragons stretched the lead to 11 before Akibo's layup made it a six-point game with 10:52 remaining.
  • A pair of free throws from Jeffries trimmed the MSU Moorhead advantage to 73-65 with 7:18 left, but the Dragons outscored the Beavers 20-13 in the final seven minutes to clinch the 93-78 victory on Friday night.
