MINOT, N.D. – After suffering an 11-3 defeat to UMary to open the evening, the Minot State softball team bounced back quickly with an 8-0 win in five innings vs. Minnesota State Moorhead to salvage a split on Friday night in the Air-Supported Dome.
The split pushes the Beavers to 5-4 on the season.
Game One: UMary 11, Minot State 3
How It Happened
- UMary had success at the plate early, scoring a run in each of the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead.
- Minot State cut into the deficit in the bottom of the fourth inning when Randi Wright ripped an RBI single to second, scoring Rianna Aasen.
- The Marauders responded with three runs in the next half inning to stretch the lead to 6-1.
- The Beavers added two runs in the fifth inning when Melissa Estrada scored after Aasen reached on an error and Julia Suchan lifted a double down the right field line to score Karlee Coughlin.
- UMary plated a run in the six and added four in the seventh to clinch the eight-run victory.

- Lauren Cowden, Alina Gonzalez, Coughlin, Suchan and Wright recorded one hit each.
- Zoya Robbins dropped to 2-2 on the season, suffering the loss after surrendering five runs in four innings of work in the circle.

How It Happened
- Minot State struck first when Coughlin reached on an error in the first inning to score Gonzalez.
- The Beavers added a pair of runs in the second inning when Cowden lifted a two-RBI double, scoring Kiera Shwaluk and Wright.
- Robbins contributed to the Minot State lead by launching a solo home run over the fence in right center for her team-leading third home run of the season.
- Haley Hernandez opened the fourth inning with a single and later came around to score on an RBI single from Maggie Mercer.
- Hernandez shot an RBI single down the left field line before Wright blasted a two-RBI double to left center, clinching Minot State's win in five innings.

- Wright led the Beavers with two hits (2-for-3) and a pair of RBIs.
- Hernandez tallied two hits while four other Beavers recorded a hit.
