PUEBLO, Colo. – Minot State opened the 2019 season with a quick 5-0 lead, but errors and miscues proved costly as the Beavers fell 7-6 in game one before suffering a 17-2 setback in game two vs. Colorado State-Pueblo in Pueblo, Colo. on Friday.
The Beavers fall to 0-2 on the season while the ThunderWolves jump to 5-7 on the year.
Game One: CSU-Pueblo 7, Minot State 6
How It Happened
- Minot State started quick when Celestino Rodriguez smacked an RBI double to left-center before Mason Gifford ripped a two-RBI single up the middle in his first at-bat as a Beaver to give the Beavers a 3-0 lead.
- The Beavers added a run in the second inning when Ryley Humrighouse launched a solo home run over the wall in right field in his first at-bat in a Minot State uniform.
- Michael Borst led off the third inning with a single before coming around to score on an RBI double from Andrew Black.
- CSU-Pueblo scored a run in the third inning before adding two more runs in the fourth inning to make it a 5-3 game.
- Minot State scored its sixth run of the game when Black double to left field and scored on a throwing error on Jackson Pokorney's sacrifice attempt.
- The Thunderwolves drew three walks and a hit by pitch in the sixth inning while rallying back to tie the game at six heading into the final inning.
- CSU-Pueblo opened the seventh reaching on an error and loaded the bases on back-to-back hit by pitches before singling through the left side for the 7-6 walk-off victory.

- Minot State cut the deficit in half in the third inning when Rodriguez lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to score Borst.
- CSU-Pueblo scored 15 runs on 10 hits and a trio of Beaver errors in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to break the game open with a 17-1 advantage.
- The Beavers scored their second run of the game in the ninth inning when Schlosser reached on an error to score Tyler Wiltshire after leading off the inning with a walk.
Inside the Box Score
- Rodriguez had a team-high two hits while Black and Humrighouse recorded one hit apiece.
- Aaron Bernal suffered the loss after lasting 3.2 innings and allowing six runs (four earned) on six hits.
