MINOT, N.D. – Minot State baseball extended its win streak to seven behind the arm of
Zach Newman and the bat of
Darrel Doll as the Beavers defeated Southwest Minnesota State 10-2 and 5-2 on Friday afternoon at Corbett Field.
The Beavers are now 25-12 on the season and 18-6 in NSIC games.
Game One: Minot State 10, SMSU 2
How It Happened
- Ryley Humrighouse doubled home Trevaun Smith in the first inning to take the quick one-run lead.
- Doll launched his team-leading eighth home run of the season with a two-run shot to right, extending the Beaver lead to 3-0 in the first.
- The Mustangs scored two runs in the fourth to make it a one-run ballgame.
- Minot State got the runs back in the next inning when Doll ripped a two-RBI double to left center, scoring Humrighouse and Michael Borst.
- Mason Gifford opened the sixth inning with a single before scoring on a wild pitch.
- Borst hit a two-RBI single to give the Beavers an 8-2 advantage in the seventh inning.
- Borst touched home on a fielder's choice hit by Celestino Rodriguez before Andrew Black singled home Dawson Forcella for the 10th run of the game.

- Just like the first game, Humrighouse's bat broke the scoreless tie as the junior smacked a two-run homer to give the Beavers a 2-0 lead in the third inning.
- Minot State added a run in the eighth on Tyler Wiltshire's RBI single up the middle.
- SMSU plated two runs on three Minot State errors in the bottom of the eighth to make it a 3-2 game heading into the final inning.
- The Beavers added a pair of insurance runs in the ninth when Borst scored on a passed ball and Geordie McDougall was hit by the pitch with the bases loaded.
