(MINOT, N.D.) – The Minot State softball team will host their first installment of 2020's air-supported dome tournaments at Herb Parker Stadium. The Beavers will take on Bemidji State, Black Hills State, and Minnesota Crookston on Saturday, Feb. 8 and Sunday, Feb. 9.

The games versus Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston will not be official NSIC league games and will have no effect on MSU's conference standing.

Minot State and Black Hills State are the only clubs of the four competing this weekend to have played regular season games in the 2020 season.

Minot State is 2-3 after their trip to the Desert Stinger Tournament in Las Vegas. The Beavers won games over Oklahoma Baptist and Sonoma State by scores of 11-3 and 10-8, respectively. Minot State's offense has been led by freshman outfielder Lauryn DeGuzman's .500 batting average. DeGuzman has recorded eight hits in 16 at bats with two homeruns and a double. She has driven in three runs and is 1-for-1 in stolen bases. Junior Haley Hernandez is the only other Beaver hitter with a batting average over .400 as she has gone 5-for-11 so far in 2020 for a .455 clip. Hernandez leads the team in slugging at 1.273 with three long-balls and four runs batted in.

Black Hills State is 0-4 on the season with all four losses coming at Northern State University by scores of 5-3, 11-1, 3-0, and 9-1. Both Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston will open their seasons this weekend.
