MINOT, N.D. -- Minot State held Minnesota-Crookston to only 19% shooting from the field as the Beavers throttled the Golden Eagles 76-45 at home Friday.

The Beavers (1-4, 1-2) had three players score in double figures, led by
Amber Stevahn, who secured a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Lucy Chapman tacked on 11 points and
Anna Counts chipped in as well with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Minot State collected 41 rebounds in Friday's game compared to Minnesota-Crookston's 25, led by Stevahn's 10 boards. The Beavers also cleaned up the offensive glass, turning 12 rebounds into 14 second chance points.

Minot State forced 15 Minnesota-Crookston turnovers. The Beavers turned those takeaways into 11 points on the offensive end of the floor.
Faith Brintle led the way individually with two steals.
How It Happened
Minot State started out the scoring by going on a 13-0 run, culminating in a three from Chapman, to take an early lead with 6:22 left in the first quarter. The Beavers then added two points to that lead by the end of the period and entered the quarter break with a 26-11 advantage. Minot State did most of its first quarter damage in the paint, scoring 14 of its 26 points close to the basket.

Minot State kept its first quarter lead intact before going on a 5-0 run starting at the 5:07 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Stevahn, to increase its lead to 35-15. The Beavers proceeded to tack on one point to that lead and enjoyed a 41-20 advantage heading into halftime. Minot State dominated in the paint, scoring 12 of its 15 points close to the basket.

Following intermission, Minot State continued to expand its advantage, pushing it to 50-25 before going on a 5-0 run to expand its lead further to 55-25 with 4:04 to go in the third. Before the conclusion of the third period, the Golden Eagles had cut into that margin, but the Beavers still entered the fourth quarter with a 60-34 edge. Minot State played well near the basket, scoring 14 of its 19 points in the paint.

Minot State started tacking on points in the fourth almost immediately, going on a 9-0 run, finished off by Brintle's layup, to grow the lead to 69-34 with 5:17 to go in the contest. The Beavers cruised the rest of the way for the 76-45 win
