Three Beavers Score Double-Digits in Loss at UMD

DULUTH, MINN. --The Minot State women's basketball team got a lost 83-65 to the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs on the road Friday.
 
The Beavers (0-3, 0-1) had three players score in double figures, led by Amber Stevahn, who had 17 points and six rebounds. Kate Head tacked on 12 points and Haley Hildenbrand helped out with 10 points and six rebounds from the bench.
 
Minot State grabbed 37 rebounds in Friday's game compared to Minnesota Duluth's 24, led by Stevahn's six collections. The Beavers also put in work on the offensive glass, turning 11 rebounds into nine-second chance points.
 
How It Happened
After falling behind 6-0, Minot State went on a 7-0 run with 7:36 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Sydney Andersen, to take a 7-6 lead. The Beavers then surrendered that lead and entered the second quarter down 17-16.
 
The Beavers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 39-29 halftime deficit.
 
Minnesota Duluth continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 52-39 advantage before Minot State went on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Stevahn, to trim its deficit to 52-44 with 1:00 to go in the third. Minnesota Duluth countered and stretched its lead to 55-44 heading into the fourth. Minot State played well near the basket, scoring 10 of its 15 points in the paint.
 
Minot State could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 83-65. Minot State took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 12 of its 21 points in the paint.

» The Beavers shot well from three-point range, knocking down five of 12 long-range attempts.
» The Minot State bench came alive by adding 25 points to its scoring output.
» Minot State lost despite a 37-24 rebounding advantage.
