Minot State comes up short in loss at Minnesota State-Moorhead

MOORHEAD, MN --The Minot State women's basketball team fell 67-43 to the Minnesota State-Moorhead Dragons on the road Saturday.

The Beavers (4-6, 2-1) had two players score in double figures, led by Amber Stevahn, who had 14 points and three steals. Anna Counts tacked on 11 points.

How It Happened

After jumping out to a 6-4 advantage, Minot State went on a 6-0 run with 6:39 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Stevahn, to increase its lead to 12-4. The Beavers then surrendered that lead and entered the second quarter down 16-14.

The Beavers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 31-20 halftime deficit.

Minot State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Beavers faced a 45-22 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. 

Minnesota State-Moorhead kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 57-33 advantage before Minot State went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Counts' three, to shrink the deficit to 57-38 with 3:39 to go in the contest. Minnesota State-Moorhead responded and outscored the Beavers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 67-43. Minot State fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down four 3-point shots to account for 12 of its 21 points.
