MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State women's basketball team rallied from an 11-point deficit at 49-38 with 6:52 remaining in the fourth quarter to take down the Northern State Wolves 65-56 at home Saturday. The Beavers poured in 40 points in the final ten minutes to claim the victory.

The Beavers (4-8, 4-6) had five players score in double figures, led by
Amber Stevahn, who notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Lucy Chapman tacked on 13 points and
Kate Head helped out with 13 of her own, plus eight assists and two steals.

Minot State collected 48 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to Northern State's 35, led by 13 boards from
Anna Counts. The Beavers also put in work on the offensive glass, turning 10 rebounds into 13 second chance points.

The Minot State defense held Northern State shooters to only 31.2 percent from the field, including 20 percent from three-point range. The Wolves did not get many second opportunities on the offensive end, as they grabbed only five offensive rebounds and scored five second chance points.

How It Happened
Minot State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 15-7 at the end of the first quarter.

The Beavers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 29-14 halftime deficit.

Following halftime, Minot State kept the Wolves from growing their lead before going on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Chapman, to trim its deficit to 35-25 with 4:23 to go in the third. Northern State countered and stretched its lead to 45-25 heading into the fourth. Minot State played well near the basket, scoring six of its 11 points in the paint.

Minot State narrowed its deficit to 49-31 before going on a 12-0 run, finished off by Chapman's three, to shrink the deficit to 49-43 with 6:07 to go in the contest. The Beavers kept the rally going and took the lead for good with 01:35 left for a 65-56 comeback victory. Minot State fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down six shots to account for 18 of its 40 points in the period.
