MOORHEAD, MINN. -- The MSU women's basketball team fought back from a third-quarter deficit to knock off the Minnesota State-Moorhead Dragons 65-61 on the road Saturday.

The Beavers (3-7, 3-5) had two players score in double figures, led by
Amber Stevahn, who had 19 points and eight rebounds.
Calli Delsman added 10 points off the bench and
Anna Counts added nine points, eight rebounds, and four blocks.

Minot State's defense held Minnesota State-Moorhead to only 31.3 percent shooting from the field, including 15.8 percent from beyond the arc. The Beavers also limited Mariah McKeever to 4-of-14 shooting in the game.

How It Happened
After falling behind 14-12, Minot State went on a 5-0 run with 1:15 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from
Bethany Theodore, to take a 17-14 lead. The Beavers then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 17-15 advantage. Minot State relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down three shots to account for nine of its 17 points.

MSU Moorhead fought back to tie the game at 17-17 before Minot State went on a 6-0 run starting at the 8:50 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Theodore, to take a 23-17 lead. The Beavers proceeded to tack on one point to that lead and enjoyed a 34-27 advantage heading into halftime. Minot State dominated in the paint, scoring 12 of its 17 points close to the basket.

Minnesota State-Moorhead then took a 47-39 lead following intermission before Minot State went on a 6-0 run to trim its deficit to 47-45 with 1:57 to go in the third. The Dragons countered and stretched its lead to 49-45 heading into the fourth. Minot State's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled three of the team's 11 third-quarter points.

The Dragons kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 52-45 advantage before Minot State went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Stevahn's jumper, to shrink the deficit to 52-50 with 6:51 to go in the contest. The Beavers kept the rally going and took the lead for good on Peyton Boom's free throw with 00:12 left for a 65-61 comeback victory. Minot State took advantage of three MSUM turnovers in the quarter, scoring seven points off of those takeaways.
