WAYNE, NEB. – Minot State finished their road trip with two big victories at Wayne State College in Nebraska. The Beavers pushed 30 total runs across in the two-game set and used their explosive offense to take the series.
GAME 1 | Minot State 15, Wayne State (NE) 14
Senior
Ryley Humrighouse and junior
Declan Buckle each collected two extra-base hits to help lead Minot State past Wayne State (NE) 15-14 on Tuesday.
Junior
Zach Newman (2-1) started on the mound and picked up the win for Minot State (8-5, 6-2). The southpaw went five innings, giving up four runs, all of them earned, on seven hits, allowing one walk and striking out four.
Buckle's two extra base hits were the highlight of a 3-for-5 day and included a double, a triple, and three RBIs. Humrighouse made his contribution with a double, a home run, and two RBIs, part of a 2-for-5 performance at the plate. Junior
Jordan Williams also contributed for the Beavers, putting together two hits in five trips to the plate while adding a triple and two RBIs.

Branden Hatley (1-1) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Minot State (9-5, 7-2). The right-hander went 4.2 innings, giving up four runs, all of them earned, on six hits, allowing two walks and striking out four. Freshman
Cameron Bagshaw also made an impact on the mound for the Beavers, throwing one scoreless inning while allowing one hit, with no walks and two strikeouts.
Senior
Ryley Humrighouse led the hit barrage for the Beavers, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with a walk and two RBIs. Junior
Jordan Williams compiled a noteworthy performance as well, going 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Sophomore
Dillon Buckmeier's RBI double was the key hit in Minot State's three-run inning.
The Wildcats then tied the ballgame at three before the Beavers struck to reclaim their advantage in the third inning. The Minot State offense exploded for eight runs, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Humrighouse, which brought the score to 11-3 in favor of the Beavers.
Minot State kept the Wildcats scoreless before building their lead to 12-3 in the fifth inning.
WSC fought back, closing the gap to 12-4 until Minot State added some insurance in the sixth. The three-run frame for the Beavers was punctuated by a two-run triple from Williams. bringing the Minot State advantage to 15-4.
Wayne State (NE) put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Beavers still coasted to the 15-6 win.
