MINOT, ND --The Minot State women's basketball team came up short in an 83-65 loss to the Saint Cloud State Huskies at home Friday.
The Beavers (8-15, 6-10) had three players score in double figures, led by Kate Head, who had 18 points and two steals. Natasha Elliott added 12 points and eight rebounds and Amber Stevahn chipped in as well with 11 points.
How It Happened
Minot State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 22-13 at the end of the first quarter.
The Beavers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 46-30 halftime deficit.
Saint Cloud State continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 50-32 advantage before Minot State went on a 6-0 run, punctuated by a three from Calli Delsman, to trim its deficit to 50-38 with 6:50 to go in the third. Saint Cloud State countered and stretched its lead to 63-50 heading into the fourth. Minot State knocked down three three-pointers in the quarter to score nine of its 20 total points.
Minot State could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 83-65. The Beavers State got up and down the court quickly in the quarter, scoring seven fast break points.
