Defensive effort leads Minot State past Minnesota-Duluth 80-63

MINOT, ND --The Minot State men's basketball team held Minnesota-Duluth to just 12.5 percent from beyond the arc in a 3-for-24 shooting performance on the way to an 80-63 victory over the Bulldogs at home Saturday.

The Beavers (15-7, 9-7) had three players score in double figures, led by Kody Dwyer, who had 18 points and two blocks. Max Cody tacked on 11 points and five assists and Ben Bohl chipped in as well with 11 points and three steals.

With his 18 points, Kody Dwyer surpassed 1000 career points at Minot State.

The Minot State offense was very productive from three point land, making eight threes on 17 attempts. Bohl was the most prolific shooter for the Beavers, draining three treys in the contest.

Minot State's defense held Minnesota-Duluth to only 12.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc. The Beavers also limited Drew Blair to 0-of-8 shooting from downtown and four points in the game. The Bulldogs did not have much luck cleaning up their misses on the offensive glass either, as they finished with eight offensive rebounds and managed nine second chance points while Minot State cleared 31 defensive rebounds.

The last Minot State victory over a top 25 opponent came over No. 21 Auguatana on Dec. 9, 2016.
