MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University President Dr. Steven Shirley has announced the resignation of Director of Athletics
Andy Carter to accept a similar position at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri. Carter began his duties as MSU's athletic director on Aug. 1, 2016 and is completing his sixth year leading Beaver Athletics.
Carter's tenure coincided with several athletic facility upgrades, the addition of a women's wrestling team, the integration of the Beaver men's and women's club hockey teams under the Athletic Department, and overall growth in the total number of MSU student-athletes.
"The Minot State community thanks Andy for his leadership and commitment to Beaver Athletics during the past six years. We wish Andy and his wife Rena the very best as they transition to this next chapter in their personal and professional lives," Shirley commented.
Friday, April 29 will be Carter's final day at MSU. An interim Director of Athletics will be announced soon, and MSU will immediately begin a national search to fill the position.
