BISMARCK, ND --The Minot State volleyball team lost to the Mary Marauders in four sets (15-25, 22-25, 25-22, 12-25) Wednesday on the road at McDowell Activity Center.
The non-conference loss moved Minot State to 2-19 on the season.
The Beavers attack was paced by Emily Kotelnikoff, who finished with 17 kills on the day, and by Sydney Upton, who had 11 while hitting at a mark of .267. Defensively, two players reached double figures in digs as Kendal Braun had 14 and Jaina Macaulay had 12. From the front row, Bailee Brommenschenkel contributed seven blocks.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Beavers found themselves in an early hole, dropping a tough first set 25-15. Minot State trailed by as many as 10 points as Mary never surrendered the lead in a set that was tied up two times before the Marauders took control.
SET 2 | Minot State then dropped the second set 25-22 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. The Beavers fought back from a seven-point 13-6 hole, but Mary hung on to take the set.
SET 3 | Minot State stayed alive with a victory in set three to make it a 2-1 match. The Beavers won the set 25-22 helped by a strong showing on the attacking side. Minot State registered a .400 attack percentage with 20 kills in the set win. After the lead changed hands five times, the Beavers took control for good at 20-19 and rode that advantage to victory.
SET 4 | Minot State couldn't build off the set-three victory and fell in set four 25-12 to drop the match. The Beavers lost the first point and never clawed back into the lead before falling in the set.
