MANKATO, M.N. – Day one of the Minnesota State Massive Meet was one to remember for MSU track & field. All athletes who competed on Friday finished their events on the podium giving the Beavers team points.
The highlight of the day was the performance by the men's distance medley relay (DMR) team comprised of Nicholas Merillana,
Peyton Tuhy,
Juan Gutierrez, and
Jacob Jensen. They crossed the finish line at 10:18.66 which is now a new indoor NCAA DII-era school record, previously held by last year's DMR group of
Jacob Jensen,
Joseph Green,
Lewis Cotterill, and Nicholas Merillana.
Not wanting to be outdone by their distance teammates were
Trent Holiday and
Charles Hardcastle who both finished 2nd in their events. Holiday competed in the men's mile and finished at 4:24.26 while Hardcastle ran in the men's 3,000 meters and finished at 8:46.58.
Sidra Sadowsky did not want to miss out on all the fun she saw the guys having, she finished her 800-meter run in 6th place with a time of 2:20.79, a few tenses of a second off her personal best time of 2:20.36.
A fabulous start to this weekend's competition, hopefully, the Beavers can keep things rolling heading into Saturday's events.
