MINOT, N.D. – After opening the season with four matches in Montana, the Beavers volleyball team is back on the road for another busy weekend, this time in Texas.
Minot State plays Arkansas Tech and Oklahoma Christian on Friday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the Lubbock Christian Chap Classic this weekend. Minot State (0-4 overall) also plays Saturday against Southern Arkansas at 9 a.m., then meets Lubbock Christian at 1 p.m. to wrap up the weekend.
The match against the Chapparals (4-0) is the second meeting between the two teams this season with Lubbock Christian beating Minot State in three sets in Montana.
As for the other foes, it will be the first meeting between the Beavers and each, and Friday's opening match will be a battle of teams looking for win No. 1 as Arkansas Tech comes in with an 0-4 record.
Friday's second match and Saturday's opener pit the Beavers against teams each with a 2-2 overall record heading into this weekend.
Leading the way so far this season for Minot State offensively have been a pair of junior-college transfers in
Maggie Machado and
Bailee Brommenschenkel who have 37 and 31 kills, respectively. The duo also are having an impact defensively as Brommenschenkel leads the team in blocks with 13 and Machado is second on the squad in digs with 52.

Kendal Braun leads the Beavers defensive efforts with 72 digs in four matches, while setting everything up have been sophomore returner
Jaina Macaulay with 67 assists and junior-college transfer
Milena Cernjanski with 50 assists in Minot State's two-setter system.
The weekend on the road provides Minot State with it's final tune-up before opening league play against a tough NSIC schedule that begins next weekend against a pair of Top-10 nationally ranked opponents, in the friendly confines of the MSU Dome, as the Beavers host fifth-ranked St. Cloud State at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, then No. 7 Minnesota Duluth at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16.
