Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Jaime Skeggs' career-high leads Minot State to 59-45 win over Winona State

MINOT, N.D. --
The Minot State women's basketball team got a 30-point performance from the bench, led by Jaime Skeggs who had a career-high 18 points, on the way to a 59-45 win against the Winona State Warriors at at the MSU Dome on Saturday in NSIC action.

The Beavers (6-15 overall, 3-9 NSIC) had two players score in double figures, led by Skeggs' 18 points. Emma Mogen added 10 points and Sydney Gustavsson added nine points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals.

"I think all the girls came out and played really hard tonight," Skeggs said. "We had a lot of energy, were playing for each other, hustling for the rebounds - which we lost the rebounding battle yesterday. So that was a key point for us when we did that and it really showed on the of the offensive end."

Minot State grabbed 38 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to Winona State's 35, led by Gustavsson's nine boards.

The Minot State defense held Winona State shooters to only 30.2 percent from the field, including 28 percent from three-point range. The Beavers also kept Hailey Markworth to 3-of-13 shooting and seven points in the game. The Warriors did not get many second opportunities on the offensive end, as they grabbed only eight offensive rebounds and scored two second-chance points while Minot State pulled down 29 defensive rebounds.
