MINOT, N.D. -- The 23rd-ranked Minot State men's basketball team got a 31-point showing from the bench but fell 94-90 to the 17th-ranked Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs at home Friday in an NSIC battle.
The Beavers (18-7 overall, 13-6 NSIC) had four players score in double figures, led by Ben Bohl, who had 24 points. Kameron Givens added 17 points and two steals from the bench and Connor Hollenbeck chipped in as well with 14 points.
Led by Michael Jok's three offensive rebounds, Minot State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 10 boards that resulted in 18 second-chance points.
How It Happened
After falling behind 21-18, Minot State went on a 9-0 run with 12:42 left in the first half to take a 27-21 lead. The Beavers then added four points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 55-45 advantage. Minot State did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 30 of its 55 points close to the basket.
Minnesota Duluth proceeded to take a 79-73 lead before Minot State went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Hollenbeck's three, to shrink the deficit to 79-78 with 6:14 to go in the contest. Minnesota Duluth responded and outscored the Beavers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 94-90. Minot State got out on the break in the period, scoring seven fast-break points.
