MINOT, N.D. -- Michael Jok grabbed 12 rebounds and Connor Hollenbeck surpassed 1,000 points in his career as the 23rd-ranked Minot State men's basketball team knocked off the Concordia, Saint Paul Golden Bears 70-67 at the MSU Dome on Saturday in NSIC action.
The Beavers (19-7 overall, 14-6 NSIC) had three players score in double figures, led by Hollenbeck, who had 17 points and eight rebounds. Jaxon Gunville added 13 points and seven rebounds and Ben Bohl chipped in as well with 13 points, five assists and two steals.
Minot State out-rebounded Concordia, Saint Paul 39-33 in Saturday's game, led by 12 boards from Jok. The Beavers also grabbed 12 offensive rebounds and scored 17 second-chance points.
How It Happened
Minot State started out the scoring by going on a 7-0 run, culminating in a bucket from Khari Broadway, to take an early lead with 17:49 left in the first half. The Beavers then added four points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 44-33 advantage. Minot State relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down six shots to account for 18 of its 44 points.
Minot State kept its lead intact before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Hollenbeck's layup, to grow the lead to 55-40 with 14:32 to go in the contest. The Golden Bears narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Beavers still held on for the 70-67 win.
