MINOT, N.D. -- The Sioux Falls Cougars fought back from a seven-point halftime deficit to defeat Minot State 24-17 on Saturday afternoon at First Western Bank Field at Herb Parker Stadium in NSIC action.
The Cougars improved to 5-3 on the year and 4-3 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play, while the Beavers fell to 2-6 overall and 2-5 in conference matchups.
Carson Chrisman led all Beavers rushers with 124 yards and one touchdown in the contest, picking up 5.9 yards per carry. Evan Lovett also added 100 yards on the ground, averaging 5.6 yards per carry. Devan Daniels chipped in with 76 yards and one touchdown as well, averaging 12.7 yards per carry.
Dylan Huber hauled in one catch for 21 yards.
Kevin Speed showed out for the Minot State defense, collecting six tackles, 1.0 TFL, and one sack. Julian Kameristy added six tackles, 1.5 TFL, and one sack in the loss.
Minot State recorded a stellar showing on the ground, racking up 299 rushing yards while averaging 6.4 yards per carry and out-rushing Sioux Falls by 144 yards. Minot State converted on 41.7 percent of third-down attempts on the day.

After Sioux Falls opened a 10-0 lead, Minot State put points on the scoreboard with 10:43 remaining in the second quarter to narrow the margin to 10-7. The Beavers' Carter Coauette
recovered the ensuing on-side kick, setting up Minot State, which took the lead on a 24-yard rushing touchdown from Carson Chrisman, making the score 14-10.
Minot State kept Sioux Falls off the scoreboard and increased its lead to 17-10 with 1:54 left in the second quarter. Minot State went scoreless the rest of the game while Sioux Falls added 14 points to finish off the scoring.
The Cougars thwarted a late Minot State drive scoring as Beau Giblin picked off a pass at the Sioux Falls' 11 yard-line with 5:02 left to play.

"If you turn the ball over 3 or 4 times, it's going to be hard to win," Minot State head coach
Ian Shields said. "The yards, that's nice and all, but you can't turn the ball over 3 or 4 times, and you certainly can't turn it over in the fourth quarter going in to score.
"That's the difference in the game. is the turnover battle."
