BISMARCK, ND --The Minot State women's basketball team came up short in an 82-69 loss to the Mary Marauders on the road Tuesday.
The Beavers (2-5, 0-1) had four players score in double figures, led by Maya Aguilar, who had 14 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Jessica Mogen tacked on 13 points and Taryn Hamling chipped in as well with 11 points and four steals.
Minot State shared the ball well in Tuesday's game, racking up 15 assists on 29 made field goals. Aguilar's three assists led the Beavers.
The Minot State defense was a problem in Tuesday's game, forcing 15 Mary turnovers while committing 13. Those takeaways turned into 17 points on the offensive end of the floor. Hamling's four steals led the way individually for the Beavers.

Minot State then cut the Marauders lead to 32-26 before going on a 6-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Hamling, to tie the game at 32. Mary then took control, putting the Beavers at a 37-34 disadvantage heading into halftime.
Mary continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 49-40 advantage before Minot State went on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a three from Aguilar, to trim its deficit to 49-45 with 5:13 to go in the third. Mary countered and stretched its lead to 64-52 heading into the fourth.
Minot State kept the Marauders from increasing their lead before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Aguilar's three, to shrink the deficit to 75-68 with 1:53 to go in the contest. Mary responded and outscored the Beavers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 82-69. Minot State took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 12 of its 17 points in the paint.
