BISMARCK, ND --Deuce Benjamin collected 30 points, but the Minot State men's basketball team fell to the South Dakota Mines Hardrockers 84-79 at Activity Center on Saturday.
Benjamin's 30 point effort led the Beavers (3-4). Darik Dissette helped out with 16 points and Isaiah Alexander chipped in with 15 points.
Minot State out-rebounded South Dakota Mines 38-30 in Saturday's game, led by 10 boards from Lovasoa Andriatsarafara. The Beavers also grabbed 14 offensive rebounds and scored 12 second chance points.
How It Happened
After falling behind 27-21, Minot State went on a 6-0 run with 6:51 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Trey Brandt, to tie the game at 27. South Dakota Mines then pulled ahead, sending the Beavers into halftime down 39-38.
South Dakota Mines kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 79-66 advantage before Minot State went on a 7-0 run to shrink the deficit to 79-73 with 59 seconds to go in the contest. The Beavers kept their comeback going, holding the lead with 13:09 left to play, but South Dakota Mines managed to hold on for the 84-79 win. Minot State took care of business in the paint, recording 22 of its 41 points in the lane.
