MINOT, ND --Darik Dissette collected 21 points and Deuce Benjamin added 20, but the Minot State men's basketball team fell to the Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons 90-79 at home on Thursday night.
Dissette and Benjamin's stellar scoring performances led the Beavers (5-5, 2-2) in the contest. Dissette tacked on nine rebounds. Isaiah Alexander also helped out with 13 points and six rebounds.
How It Happened
After falling behind 17-11, Minot State went on a 5-0 run with 12:13 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Alexander, to narrow its deficit to 17-16. Minnesota State-Moorhead answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Beavers down 43-40 entering halftime.
Minot State could not pull any closer in the second half, losing by a final of 90-79. Minot State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 10 of its 39 total points.
Coaches Comments
Head Coach Randall Herbst, after the hard fought win, said, "The game was tied up multiple times, but we could never seem to get over the hump." he said, "But the guys kept battling, and we need to try to put it together for 40 straight minutes".
