MINOT, ND --Taryn Hamling made seven 3-pointers - an NCAA Division II-era school record - and totaled 25 points, and the Minot State women's basketball team beat the Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles 84-53 at home Saturday.
Hamling added two steals to her 25 point game to lead the Beavers (6-6, 3-2). Jaime Skeggs helped out with 11 points, six rebounds and two steals and Lara Dobbins chipped in with nine points, eight rebounds and two steals.
Minot State grabbed 44 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to Minnesota-Crookston's 38, led by Dobbins' eight boards. The Beavers also put in work on the offensive glass, turning 15 rebounds into 15 second chance points.
The Minot State defense held Minnesota-Crookston shooters to just 31.2 percent from the field, including 29.6 percent from three-point range. The Beavers also kept Emma Miller to 2-of-15 shooting and eight points in the game.

After falling behind 7-4, Minot State went on a 5-0 run with 3:28 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Hamling, to take a 9-7 lead. Minot State was strong from deep in the period, knocking down six three-point shots to account for 18 of its 23 points.
Minot State continued to preserve its halftime lead before going on a 14-0 run, punctuated by a three from Hamling, to expand its lead further to 59-37 with 5:06 to go in the third. Before the third period was over, the Beavers added two points to that lead and entered the fourth quarter with a 67-43 edge. Minot State knocked down four three-pointers in the quarter to score 12 of its 26 total points.
Minot State kept its lead intact before going on a 7-0 run to grow the lead to 74-45 with 8:08 to go in the contest. The Beavers kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 84-53 win. Minot State got a boost from its bench in the period, with non-starters scoring seven of its 17 total points.
