BISMARCK, N.D. – The season is down to one more race before the NSIC Outdoor Championships, as the Minot State Track and Field team is back for the home stretch.
The Beavers are in Bismarck for the Marauders/Mystics Tune-Up on Wednesday to wrap up the regular season. Start time is TBA.
Last week featured one of the most successful meets for the Beavers this season as far as setting records and mixing in a couple of 1
st-place finishes. They along with the others will all get another chance to refine their craft in this Bismarck tune-up.
The Bison Open saw many headlines.
Kaydee Boyce,
Bailey Wride,
Devan Daniels, and
Nasir Dilworth all set new records last week. In addition, Wride along with
Summer Krebsbach,
Ramon Duran,
Peyton Tuhy, and
Holter Bridwell climbed the latter once again to secure 1
st place in their respective events.
In the men's 110-meter hurdles,
Nasir Dilworth broke a 32-year-old record after finishing at 14.33 seconds. The previous record was held by Dave Knutson who went for 14.44 in 1993.
Staying in the men's hurdles, at 400 meters, was a 1
st-place finisher in
Ramon Duran. He racked up a time of 54.08 seconds. In his shadow was
Zaccharius Brown in 2
nd place with a completed time of 55.50 seconds.
Bailey Wride had another breakout race in the women's 800 meters, breaking an NCAA-era record with a time of 2:13.33. That also placed 2
nd in the all-time list.
Sidra Sadowsky rounded out 2 Beavers who finished top 2 in the 800m, as her final tally was 2:13.99.
Also, in the 800 meters but on the men's side,
Peyton Tuhy took care of business. He ran for 1:54.14 as the individual winner.
Kaydee Boyce became the first athlete to register her name in the women's heptathlon NCAA-era record books. She scored 3,901 points, which is also 2
nd all-time.
The men's 100 meters saw
Devan Daniels go for 10.71 seconds, a new NCAA mark that passed Glyn Borel's 10.74 from 2015. It is also good for 4
th all-time.
Moving across into the women's 200 meters,
Summer Krebsbach continues to shine in an excellent season of her own. She recorded a time of 24.53 seconds, which was better than the rest. Not too far behind her was
Camryn Adams, who walked away with 3
rd in the 200m at 25.05.
One of the other winners from that day,
Holter Bridwell, stood out in the men's 3000 steeplechase. His final time was 9 minutes and 52.53 seconds. The women's 3000 steeplechase also had a top 2 finisher in
Julie Folk. She clocked in at 13 minutes and 38.97 seconds.
The meet had top 3 finishes for both
Grayson Bonilla and
Jake Jenkins. The men's 5000 meters saw Bonilla in 2
nd with a time of 16 minutes and 2.83 seconds, where Jenkins was 3
rd at 16:03.78. Not only did the men's team find good results in that, but the women also had a representative in the 5000 meters.
Emery Smith followed up her record in the 10k with a 2
nd-place outcome at 18 minutes and 8.96 seconds.
A group effort in the 4x100 men's relay also led to a 1
st-place finish as they compiled 42.41 seconds when it was done.
Over in the field events,
Afton Wride captured 4
th in the women's triple jump with a mark of 11.11m (36 feet and 5 ½ inches). The women's javelin saw
Erica Nelson place 3
rd after hitting 37.80m.
The men's field events were led by
Dallas Reese and
Evan Hartt. Reese got 4
th in the shot put after recording 14.65m (48 feet and ¾ inches). As for Hartt, he would end up in 3
rd for the discus after landing 47.02m (154 feet and 3 inches). He also competed in the hammer and finished in 5
th with 48.29m (158 feet and 5 inches).
Minot State will finish in Bismarck as the Beavers hope to get one last good impression before they head to Duluth, Minnesota for the NSIC Outdoor Championships on May 9-10.
