BISMARCK, N.D. – The Minot State track and field teams raced their way to six wins on Wednesday at the UMary Tune Up, which was interrupted by rain.
The meet will continue Thursday with the field events being completed in Dickinson. Only the javelin was completed while the men's and women's long jumps were underway for field events.
The day on the track wrapped up with
Deuce Carr,
Devan Daniels,
Marco Murillo, and
Nikita Neyshtadt bringing home wins for the Minot State men, while the Beaver women were led by
Summer Krebsbach and
Paulette Dominguez who raced to victories.
Carr won the men's 100 meters in 10.89 seconds, Daniels won the men's 200 meters in 22.17 seconds, Murillo won the men's 800 meters in 1 minute, 59.12 seconds, and Neyshtadt won the men's 1,500 meters in 4 minutes, 25.14 seconds.
Krebsbach won the women's 100 in 12.03 seconds and Dominguez ran a career-best time of 2 minutes, 26.11 seconds to win the women's 800.
Adding career bests as the long jump got underway were Minot State freshmen
James Smith and
Afton Wride as Smith had a leap of 20 feet, 0.5 inches in the men's long jump, and Wride had a leap of 18 feet, 4.5 inches.
The meet is the Beavers' final tune-up before the NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Minnesota Duluth, May 8-10.
