MINOT, ND -- The Minot State volleyball team opened the 2nd annual 1st International Bank and Trust Homecoming Classic with its first win of the season, beating the Montana State Billings Yellowjackets 3-1 (25-20, 25-23, 21-25, 25-22) Thursday morning at home at MSU Dome.
The non-conference win improved the Beavers' overall record to 1-4 on the season.
The Beavers were led by a double-double from Caton Pearcy, who registered 11 kills and 10 digs on the day. Emily Willis also added 10 kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Jaina Macaulay chipped in with 13 digs to go with four blocks from Mia Thompson.

SET 1 | The Beavers took control on the first point and held the lead the rest of the way to secure the first set 25-20. Minot State led by eight points at 20-12 before finishing off the set, collecting 16 kills along the way.
SET 2 | Minot State continued to roll after a set-one win by securing a 25-23 victory in the second set. The Beavers took the lead for good at 24-23 in a set that didn't have a lead change before the Beavers took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 3 | Montana State Billings avoided an early loss with a third-set win to make it a 2-1 match. The Beavers fell behind on the first point and never took the lead before losing the set 25-21.
SET 4 | Minot State then responded to close out the match with a 25-22 set-four victory. The Beavers led from the opening point on in the set to secure the victory. Minot State opened up as much as a six point lead at 17-11 before finishing off the stanza.
