Beavers drop match to No. 16 Saint Cloud State

ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- The Minot State volleyball team fell to the 16th-ranked Saint Cloud State Huskies in three sets (12-25, 16-25, 20-25) Friday on the road at Halenbeck Hall to open NSIC play.

The loss dropped Minot State's record to 1-8 overall and 0-1 in NSIC action.

Caton Pearcy finished with eight kills on the day to lead the Beavers attack. Minot State got 11 digs from Jaina Macaulay to lead them defensively.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Beavers fell behind early, dropping a tough first set 25-12. Minot State trailed by as many as 13 points as Saint Cloud State never surrendered the lead in a set that was tied up just once before the Huskies took control.

SET 2 | Minot State lost the second set 25-16, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. The Beavers lost the first point and never clawed back into the lead before dropping the set.

SET 3 | Saint Cloud State finished the sweep with a set-three win. The Beavers came up short by the score of 25-20. Minot State trailed by as many as seven points as Saint Cloud State grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 in a set that was tied up seven times before the Huskies took over the lead.
